Available Training

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), Controller's Office, and Research Grants and Contracts (RGC) Office have designed a training program to ensure that research administrators have access to information that will provide them with a foundation of knowledge to assist them in understanding how to appropriately administer sponsored programs at Emory University. These offices provide a variety of educational opportunities related to sponsored program administration with the mission to support and enhance the administrative processes, both internally and externally, for proposals and awards. The courses offer guidance on the rules and regulations governing compliance with federal, University, and contractual sponsor requirements.

Emory uses an online system to manage both its instructor-led and online courses. Register to take these courses through the ELMS (Emory Learning Management System). Instructions are provided below to assist you.

Note: We no longer distribute paper copies of training materials. Find more information and copies of instructor-led (classroom) course materials for our Pre Award specific trainings in the Emory OSP Training Documents accordion below.

Emory's Research Certification (eRAE)

The Offices of Sponsored Programs (OSP), Controller's Office, and Research Grants & Contracts (RGC) have developed training certification tracks to support the professional growth and development Emory University Research Administrators. All Emory University employees in an administrative role are encouraged to complete the PreAward or PostAward Research Administrator RAE Certification series within 180 days of employment. The Research at Emory Certification program offers two course tracks. Courses must be taken sequentially in the order outlined.

Program Overview

There are two defined tracks by which individuals in the research community can obtain their certification. The first is for those who are Pre-Award Administrators and do not have the responsibility for monitoring budgets in Compass. These classes in this track will provide a higher level understanding of pre-award sponsored programs administration. The second is for Post-Award Research Administrators and will provide a more in-depth understanding of the reconciliation, review and closeout processes for sponsored programs at Emory.

About Your Certification Status

A certification is only good for a term of one year. You must complete continuing professional development educational seminars in order to maintain your certification.

Obtaining Your Certification

Below outlines the course requirements. The tracks are a combination of online and classroom facilitated courses. Each online and instructor-led training registration can be accessed using Emory's Learning Management System (ELMS). To begin the certification program register for the Pre or Post Award Certification and then complete each class listed.
