Policies & Procedures

The Policies and Procedures that govern Emory can be found on the official Emory Policy site.

In addition to the official University policies, those that have the responsibility of conducting or managing extramural research have the added responsibilities of adhering to any and all School College and Sponsor related policies as well.

The Schools and College publish their own policies. Please check the individual websites for the most up-to-date policies and procedures to follow, based on your location.

Emory's policies are governed by the OMB Circulars A-110, A-21 and A-133, but each Sponsor, both Federal and non-Federal, have their own policies and procedures. While normally published on their websites, additional guidance is frequently included on a case by case basis in their published Requests for Applications, Proposals, as well as, any agency-wide policy statement or manuals. A general rule of thumb is that if it's in the guidelines for a particular submission, those rules are to be followed. If something is not explicitly stated in the guidelines, the general rules for that sponsor should be adhered to. In some instances, the University's policies will be stricter than the sponsor's. In such cases, the University's policies are the guiding policies.
